TEACHING TURKISH TO HERITAGE LEARNERS

Academic Unit: Turkish and Social Sciences Education

Program Objectives: The aim for this program is to meet the need of experts in the field of teaching Turkish to Turkish children who are bilingual abroad, to equip students with the essential tools to apply advanced analytical methods or techniques, the theoretical and practical knowledge, to make research on bilingual Turkish children,and to meet the need for qualified expert teachers of public and private institutions and organizations.

Who can apply?

In-Field Quotas	Bachelor degree holders of Turkish Language Education and Turkish Literature Education should apply to the in-field applicant quotas.

Graduation Requirements:

In order to graduate from the program, students are required;

to take at least 7 courses (21 local credits/ 120 ECTS), two of which are required by the department
to pass the “Seminar” and “Research Methods and Scientific Ethics” courses,
to pass all courses with at least CB grade and have at least 2.50/4.0 GPA,
to comply with the publication requirement,
to register to “Lecture on Specialized Field” and “MA Thesis” courses in order to write a thesis, after completing the required number of credits,
to pass the MA thesis defense successfully.

Publication Requirement:

MA students are required to meet at least one of the following requirements which has to be related to their thesis and done in cooperation with their thesis supervisor(s):

An oral/ poster presentation at a national/ international refereed academic congress
An academic article published or accepted for publication at a national/ international refereed academic journal
